Has anyone used BILSTEIN 5100 Series Front Adjustable Coilovers?
I'm just tryin to find the best possible setup to lift my 00' Tundra 2" to 2.5". Just purchased it with 20K on, like brand new. Already has airbags, but debating on what to do in the rear end too.If anyone has got sum input I would really dig it.

There are several threads on this over in the Suspension Forum.
I have a set that have been on for about a month and a half. I'm very happy with them.
All a man really needs for happiness in this world is a good woman, a faithful dog, and a big-a$$ed set of tires on his truck.

Coilovers or adjustable shocks? I have the coilovers with +30k miles.

I was in Davis a couple of weeks ago mmarlatt, wandering around lost! I should've just called you haha. Anyway, where were your best sources of purchasing the 5100 coilovers? Best price I found was 689 and I know there's gotta be a better deal somewhere.

remember while looking at pricing on them, that they DO NOT come assembled so you would have to,
a) do it yourself, thats assembling whole setup
b) having a shop do it for cash

Davis is tiny, how did you get lost?
I've had mine for over 2 years, but I was able to get them delivered for $525 from Shockwarehouse.com - Shocks and Struts from Bilstein, KYB, Rancho, Monroe, Edelbrock (after tax and shipping, of which there was none). Someone posted on a different 5100 coilover thread that they found a source for $505 in the past few months, but I can't remember the source.
$689 is way too much. If the bilstein coilovers were that much when I was looking I would have gone to a 2.5" shock body. But I don't offroad, so I couldn't justify the extra cost.

Yes, but you are comparing apples to oranges. The shocks do what they do, and the coilovers do what they do. Are you going for looks and just staying on the Bunny Trail? Get the shocks. Are you going to play rough? Get the coilovers.
I think Bilstein builds a quality product be it the shocks or the whole system. They are both high quality products that each have a different purpose.

Actually, the BTS coilovers are NOT recommended by Bilstein for the 4x4 DC, but the pre-load adjustable 5100s are, which leads me to wonder about the "quality" difference between the two. My assumption is that its not really a "quality" issue but rather one of spring rate. The BTS includes the spring, whereas the pre-load adjustable does not (uses the factory spring). This would explain the difference in price.
Not sure whether the 4x4 DC uses a different spring than the other 2wd and 4wd Tundras, but I have to assume that it does (MUCH heavier vehicle, I'm assuming)
By the way, the recommendation I mention above is based on an actual conversation with a product specialist at Bilstein.
