Toyogaurd Scam South East Region

I picked up my new 06 Tundra SR 5 Access Cab a few weeks ago.
Everything was as ordered. A week later a took a peak under the truck and noticed the only undercoating I saw was on the wheel wells and a little near under rocker panels. I asked my salesman at dealership about my new trucks toyogaurd. He said they have no control over what the SET port does.
I told him all of my other Toyotas that I have owned with toyogaurd have had the entire bottom and any exposed paint covered. Every nut, bolt, screw wirring harness was covered. I have opend a case with Toyota National customer service. I would not have paid the 699.00 rip off If I knew they were going to use a couple cans of undercoating. I would have done the undercaoting myself.

The whole toyoguard package is a rip off.

Those "extra" packages usually are a rip off....scotchguard, etc........ The dealership itself should have applied the Toyoguard.......regardless they DO have a responsibility to correct the situation, tell 'em I said so
but seriously, they are required to remedy that problem.

From what I've gathered, the entire SET operation is a ripoff.

3m makes professional grade rubberized undercoating in spray cans. About 5 bucks a can. You can do your hole truck for under 100 dollars. For what they did will coast about 20 bucks.

Do not buy the Toyogaurd as it is a rip-off.
I finally got in touch with South East Toyota office about Toyogaurd issue.
They said they stopped undercoating the entire bottom of Tundra’s. They now only undercoat the wheel wells and under rocker panels only. What a bunch of crap. So they continue to charge the full price 699.00 and now undercoat 1/3rd of the bottom of trucks. Truly a SET scam to make more money. I always liked having the entire bottom of my vehicles coated with undercoating. I guess you are now better off taking new vehicle to undercoating rust proofing store in your town. I will be writing a letter to senior management in CA. You call the Toyota 800 customer service and all you get from the person is we have no control of what is done in different Toyota regions. They even tried to say Toyogaurd is only offered in the SET which is a lie as I have seen this offered in the NorthEast region.
AKA, meaning we sell our cars to different Toyota regions and they can screw the car buyers anyway they can.

I had written to the big cheese Jim Press at Toyota USA Torrance, CA a few weeks ago. Some customer service bozo called me this week to say they have no control over what SET and other regions add to a vehicle after delivered to a port. I asked so Toyota USA basically does not care what happens to the consumer after vehicles leave the factory. He repeated they have no control over what the regions add or do to Toyota vehicles. So do not get the TOYOGAURD as in SET region they use about one can of undercoating. They now only undercoat the wheel wells and some of the rocker panels. WHAT A RIP OFF. This person was very argumentive on the telephone. I guess they have been hearing many complaints. Toyota is starting to follow the big three auto maker’s practices.

tell them to take their shiet off, and demand a refund. stop payment on you credit card or file a class action. $699 is big chunk of change. i live in hawaii and i said "NO" to their rustproffing crap. (lots of salt air here). our cars rust our regardless, ia wasnt about to toss money into the fire.

if they wont budge, threaten them with some free advertising from the local news. they may have an "action line" to warn consumers about scams and put it on the local 6 o'clock news. caveot: the local news station can only do this as long as you have not filed a legal suit, or threatened to file a legal suit.

and last but not least, and the most effective method by far. picket the dealership with big bright yellow picket signs and ballons. (you can get the free ballons from a competing dealer) get your wife, kids to help you. freedom of speech is protected as long as you stay on the sidewalk and dont tresspass. (dont forget to call the local police and news crew to announce what you are doing, before you do your thing) this way when the dealer calls the police to have you thrown out for tresspassing, the police can tell the dealer you are well within your right to be on the sidewalk, etc. g/l

ps be smart and protect yourself if you do the picket thing, dealerships really really dont like that at all. better have a vid camera poised in a hidden spot so you can record all the shiets the sales peeps are going to do, like cuss at you, shoot your baloons with a pelet gun and so forth. ** been there, done that, got the panties ** windward nissan 1994

Too bad the Arbitrating 3rd opinion has changed from AAA to Toyota!! i found this out after having issues with spare tire being different than the ones on the ground and Toyota told me to BUY the correct rim to match the ones on the ground!! i paid 700$ for upgraded 17" wheel package and got only 4 aluminium rims and one steel and the owners manual says in 14 places do not use mismatched wheel and rims !! so much for the 5 tire rotation idea? asked them what to do if i have a flat they said buy new rim?? live and learn i guess!! getting old for that though!!

I did not get the Toyoguard option with my DC Tundra, but it was on the Corolla I bought for my daughter. She made an appointment for the first oil change (free one) and the dealer told her she had to wait 4 hours even though she had an appointment. She said no way and made it for another day. They made her wait two hours the second time. She had a flat and called for the "roadside assistance". They told my 18 year old daughter to sit on the side of the road and wait. They said it would be "about 8 hours" before they could get to it. I have called, written a letter, none of which did any good. I think the Toyoguard option for the south east region should be renamed "South East Toyota Executive Yacht Fuel Option".

Toyota dealers are amoung the worst of all brands. Perhaps a tiny bit better than a VW dealer, but for the most part, it's bottom of the barrel time if you're screwed into need Toyota service. There's not a decent Toyota dealer within 100 miles. What's really funny is, my closest dealer is a Chrysler/Toyota/Honda store but the have completely different service departments/buildings. The Toyota shop is run by sharks that I wouldn't use even for warranty service. My sister has taken her car there recently, and it's still a dirty shop and they treat her like dog-crap. The Honda shop is extremely professional, real nice waiting room, drive-up covered service, and damn cheap ($21 for oil change). Makes no sense.
