Re: 1st post. thinking of trading my titan for a 2006 4X4 dbl cab
I can't say I wouldn't blame you. However, my first two Yotas trucks, 1990 Xtra-Cab and the 1996 Tacoma were first year production runs. Both were great trucks. The only manufacturer I would consider even doing this with would be Toyota. That was then and this now. It seems like everything from a product standpoint, not only cars and trucks, has gone down in quality.

Re: 1st post. thinking of trading my titan for a 2006 4X4 dbl cab
The first thing you'll notice is that the Tundra drives a lot nicer/smoother than the Titan - not boxy or awkward at all. If you're the kind of person who likes to have a bit of a "feel" for control of the vehicle, the Tundra might be a better fit for you. There will be some space loss, because even the DC Tundra seems smaller than the CC Titan, but the flip side to that is the fact that you DO get a "normal sized" bed with the Tundra.
I am getting slightly better mileage with the Tundra than I did with my Titan, but that might also be attributed to the fact that I have an AC Tundra - not a DC. However, I have yet to put more than 500 miles on it (haven't even gassed it up yet) put my tonneau cover on, or add any other performance-enhancing mods, so I'm sure the mileage will improve, if only just a little bit.
The Titan is a good quality truck, in my opinion. But it all depends on what you want. I didn't need that kind of space and the higher mileage - coupled with the "boxiness" - just made me miss my Tundra, so I went back.
Personally, I think if you wait for the 07 Tundra, you might have some of the same issues you have now. I'm willing to bet the mileage will be comparable to the Titan (since the size apparently will be - going to take a lot more effort to push that big thing down the road). Since it'll be a first-year vehicle, it may very well have other problems. If I were you, I'd get a Tundra now, before it becomes behemoth-sized. Another reason why I went back when I did.
Incidentally, you really won't give up that much (if anything) in the "power" department. The Tundra may have a slightly less-powerful engine than the Titan, but - at least with the AC - there's less vehicle to propel, so it jumps just as quick. You don't get that throaty growl when you step on the gas like with the Titan, but the fuel gauge doesn't take a nosedive everytime you punch it, either .
Re: 1st post. thinking of trading my titan for a 2006 4X4 dbl cab
I own an 06 Armada, have have seriously considered getting a Titan for myself (the wife drives teh Armada), but have also been looking hard at the Tundra double cab.
They drive remarkably different from each other, though the milage is likely to be very similar. I'm guessing you like the beef and brawn of the Titan or you wouldn't have bought it in the first place. The current Tundra needs some work to get there. Exhaust mods, 2.5" lift with coilvers seem to be very common. Thusly equipped, they will ride and feel similar.
The interior of the Titan is amazing. Wide door sills for your arms, tons of storage, really smart design details, and decent quality plastics. However, it's not put together as snuggly as the Tundra. The Tundra is really dated on the interior, but it works. There is ample room in each, but the biggest difference in the the driving position. In the Titan, you sit up and your legs go down like in a dining room chair. In the Tundra, the legs go out in front of you like a low slung sedan.
I find the Titan (Armada) very comfortable to drive long distances, whereas the driving position of the Tundra fatigues me after and hour or two.
Both trucks drive like a truck, and will expereince rear end hop on choppy roads, but it's much more restrained in a stock Tundra.
Both vehicles have some significant growing pains, and very similar ones at that. We waited on buying our Armada until the brake issue was resolved, but we have the driver side window rattle and the sunroof rattle like everyone else. We are seeing Nissan work though the issues and issue various TSB's. The key with Nissan is that there are fewer good dealerships. In my area (Orange County), there are none really. We go to Corona and they are really good. But the service does vary tremendously depending on where you go. From what I can tell, the Toyota dealers are more unifiormly better, with a few negative exceptions here and there.
I personally think that the resale value of the Titan is too low to really try to get out of it so soon, unless you are leasing. Otherwise, you will lose lots of money.
I'm pretty sure the Tundra will be much more reliable, but ultimately, you may not enjoy it as much in comparison.
It's hard decision, I know because I'm going through similar considerations.
Re: 1st post. thinking of trading my titan for a 2006 4X4 dbl cab
What I'm surprised by is that you really have to think about this move. If I had ended up with a Nissan Titan and had the opportunity to get a Toyota Tundra I would jump at it with both hands.
Honestly, I'm surprised you bought it in the first place. The Chevy is rated better in reliability then the Nissan Titan, and that is scary. Something worse then a GM product? Holy crap, Marie!

Will I experience better mileage with the tundra? Better to wait for the 07? Any problems with the tundras? I've had several issues with my titan including vibrations that aparently can't be repaired. My warranty will be expire on the titan in less than 100 miles.
What would you suggest I do? I'm really confused.
I don't think you can compare the two trucks their not in the same league with each other.
The dcab doesn't tow as much has less power, but it's better looking IMHO, better built very nice fit and finish, wont spend much time at dealer, the worst thing about a Toyota is you hate to get rid of it. Thats been my experience. Get the 06 with a sun roof ah.

I haven't owned a Titan either, but I LOVE my Tundra. I came from a Ford SD. I have a Double Cab, Limited, w/ TRD, and I get 18 MPG. I think you will be very happy with the Tundra.
