I did mine at 600 miles and you could see MANY reflective metallic "sparkles". Second change at 1500 had much less but still some. Mobil 1 went in then and gets changed every 5k. I have a UOA from the first M1 change at like 6, 000 miles which still showed some stuff in the oil. The last one I did in mid 20k's showed all is well and broken in (very little contamination) of any sort.

lmao!!!!!!! That was great!

You gotta watch those lube places. I did my rear end gear lube not long ago and I had my oil changed at Kwik Kar because they got a good deal on Royal purple. Any way the dude came at with a sample of my rear end lube, real dirty. I said no way I just changed it, he said oh you did. I said don't worry about it man. Went home drained about a hand full out of my rear end lube, was very clean. Dam Scam artists!

The Mobile is a grate oil i know. I work for a trucking co. In the past we have done oil test for Mobile in our trucks. One day the test engineers were at my work and i ask the question, if i used regular oil that was of good quality and changed oil at 3,000 would i see a difference in eng life? He said if put a lot of miles between oil changes i would, but if i change it regular like 3,000 miles i would not know the difference. So i have one now with 270,000 and is just fine. But i do believe the Mobile is better much better than regular it is just not worth it to me. By the way the oil we tested was run 100,000 with no oil change just filters. I took the eng apart for them to look at and it look brand new.

I just did the first oil change on my 06 limited 4.7 at 534 miles. Sent a sample in and it came back with critical across the top on the results page. It was very high in copper and silicon. Obviously from the break-in going on. I will change it again and sample at 3000 mile mark and then at 5000 miles it will start getting castrol syntec for the rest of the time I own it. I did this on my last truck and the first three samples went from saying critical on oil change #1 to caution on oil change #2 and then normal on #3. So by 5000 miles they are fully broken in.
