Default Theft of catalytic converters in Tundras

Has anybody had their catalytic converter stolen? Didn't even think it would be worth the effort...

"Although the metals are found in all catalytic converters, the Tri-Valley thieves have almost exclusively struck 1990s Toyotas. The thieves look for Toyota Tacomas, Tundras or 4Runners because those converters are bolted, not welded in, and the taller trucks and SUVs are much easier to get under than other cars."

I didn't know grizzlies were that tame. That's a huge dog.

What breed is the dog behind him?

Thieves steal them because they can get a 20-60 bucks for scrap. The Platinum in them goes for $1000 an ounce these days.

They like Toyota trucks and SUVs because they're high off the ground. Don't believe that they'll target bolt-on cats. They will also hacksaw it out.

Is there a way to weld on a cage?

We recently had an article in our newspaper here in the seattle area and on the local evening news about the theft of catalytic converters. Sounded like just a handful in incidences but most all were stolen from toyota's. They mentioned Tundra's in both news storys. Said they are stealing them for the precious metals in them. Said it takes about 15 converters to make enough to cash in. Also stated that they are stealing the scrap ones from behind exhaust shops also.
