sure sounds like tourqe wrap, are you in 4x4 on hard dirt or dry pavement?
To much tension on componets and into part releases it.

When I am In 4-low, If I stop and put it in park I hear a loud clunk ( while staying in 4 low the whole time). When I put it back in drive (still in 4 low) there is no noise I drive a bit and stop and put it in park it will make a clunk sound. It dose not make any noise from 4-high to 4 low just when I am in 4-low and put it in park. Everything seems to be working fine except for the noise. Just wondering if anybody else truck makes the same noise. If someone could check their truck I would really appreciate it. Thanks any info would be great!

I drove a short distance on dry pavement in 4 wheel low and then put it in park. No noise, no clunk (not even a quite one like engaging 4wd while stopped in neutral). Then I turned through part of a circle in 4 wheel low to purposely wind up the drive train a bit, still no noise shifting into park.

This truck is an ’06 DC with 1,500 miles.

How about some other folks doing this test so we can get some data on the issue?

I never noticed that. I was curious so I did exactly what you said. I put it in 4 Lo, while in "neutral". Then I shifted to "Park" & I got the clunk. I never noticed that before because I was always in gear before shifting to "Park". So I tried that. Put the truck in "Neutral", step on the brake and engage 4WD, then 4 Lo. With the truck in "Neutral", first shift to "Reverse" and let it engage before shifting to "Park. I also tried it from "Drive" to "Park". Foot on the brake, of course. Usually I take it out of 4WD before shifting to "Park" so I never noticed it. So try putting it in gear before going to "Park". That or disengage 4WD first.

I get a similar sound with my 05. It seems to happen in both 4-high and low. No problems going into either range, but when I'm disengaging, there is sometimes (but not always) a significant "clunk" sound.

My 1-year warranty on this vehicle is soon to expire and I'm curious as to whether I should take this to the dealer (and push the issue in case they say "they always do that"

John

i have noticed the "clunk" when pushing the button from 2wd to 4hi ONLY WHILE GIVING IT GAS and from 4hi to 2wd ONLY WHILE GIVING IT GAS. if i am coasting or stopped there is a smooth locking of the gears. 4lo has no issues as i am stopped.

Mine does the same but i figured out what mine is. It does it when the cv axle locks in the front wheels.
