weird power steering problem
howdy -
I had my 04 tundra dc in for a new stereo this morning. turns out I can't get the stereo. I guess they don't stock the proper harness. anyway, they put everything back to factory and I backed out of the bay. When I cranked hard on the steering, it felt like the parking brake was on. I stopped, got out, looked in the wheel wells (expecting to find a coat or something.) Nothing. I drove off. Next time I needed to do a tight turn, same thing. It really resists making tight turns. It feels like something is binding. They had the dash apart and the deck out. I think they took off the driver door panel. I don't think they did anything under the hood - although the hood was up.
Anyone else had something like this happen? Got any ideas?
thanks, bros.
Tom

Re: weird power steering problem
if you have a 4x4, check to make sure its not in 4wd... sounds like exactly what it does in 4wd on dry pavement.

Re: weird power steering problem
Sounds like its in 4HI and binding the drive train, check the harness going to the 4wd buttons.
Best regards, Kent

No problem, happy to help... glad to hear it was something simple (and I'll be you are too).
