I plan on getting a Apexi RSM-GP unit to get rid of the speed limiter.

people, let the guy kill himself at night, when there's "no one else on the road." hopefully he'll be solo, but if there's anyone who thinks it's cool to drive that fast in a pickup, hop right in.

Darwin's theory should eventually prevail.

And one question. are all these Darrell Waltrip and toyota nascar commercials out there convincing these average joes that all of the sudden they have actually purchased a stock car and can give the roads and people all the hell they can handle?

Ok i just have to add my two cents here because i've seen this like 5 times now.....i too have a MAJOR problem with the governor on the truck i dont see what the point of one is really except to cover the big companies butt because they dont want to be sued.....if i spend 30,000 dollars on a truck and then who knows how much more on up grades i should be able to take whatever risks i feel like taking with out toyota telling me when fast is too fast......i dont know about every where else but here in california everytime i'm turning around they're closing another track and if it's not closed its packed and expensive. so if i want to get out in the middle of no where or even right in the middle of rush hour traffic on the shoulder and do 150mph it should be my business. if i put some stories of what i've done on here you guys would have a field day and think i'm a complete nut YET i have had ONE ticket for driving with my head lights out (the cop was a complete moron) and i've never been in an accident. so IF you feel you can travel at those speed and IF you are willing to take the risk of seriously injuring yourself or maybe even dying then for all means have a good time! The guy was just asking a simple question on a TECH board to see if he could get some help about fixing a problem he has isn't that what TS is for? i mean if he wanted someone to tell him he wasn't being very smart i'm sure his parents would be more then happy to, he doesnt need to hear it on here too.

No, it is not your business or your right. Your rights stop when then tread over the rights of others. That is why there are laws to protect the rest of us from idiots like you who think only of themselves. Show me just one county or state that has a speed limit at 120mph. Just one.

Toyota puts limitations on their vehicles so that when some idiot does kill himself, Toyota can't be blamed and sued.

If he doesn't want to hear it, then he should just ask his question without posting his story like we are going to be all impressed with his stupidity.

Look, I have no problem with someone going onto an isolated track and speeding to his heart's content. I just have a problem with people who tear down the highways and ungodly speeds without a care for anyone else lives that are being put at risk.

Well I just gotta chime in here.........I`ve had my limiter removed for over 20,000 miles now........does this mean I speed ? Yep, somtimes I do.........do I do it all the time? No way......... I had mine removed because, plain and simple....I dont want it there........have I buried the speedo? YES I have......Once........just to satisfy myself........If a person wants to do the limiter removal.......thats up to them.........where/when they speed is thier choice, as long as other people are not potentionaly put in harms way...........when I did mine there was just me on the stretch of road I was on..........11 miles of almost perfectly straight road, and as I stated earlier......I live in the middle of nowhere..........And a drunk or stoned person, or a person driving aggessive on the road (IMO) is just as dangerous or more so ..............Just my opinion.............

Lets get down to brass tacks then.

How did you remove it, and how fast is the truck?

I have a 2003..........I got in touch with jack@unichip.us .....now I had to request that the limiter be removed..( I had a switch put on it ) The switch was due to the fact that a potential situation could/might occure with the shifting of the transmission till it warms up.............
Now as for how fast??????? well it pulls just as hard all the way to the end of the speedo....as for mph.......dont know , but it buried it.

The enthusiast who works to increase his truck's all-around peformance capabilities, tires/suspension/brakes mutiple upgrades that work together so the new vehicle will nearly run circles around the original mushy cheapo stock one, well if he goes out to practice and learn about its capabilities under reasonably safe conditions (not just seeing it go fast but getting a handle on stopping and steering capabilities at those higher speeds. From a safety standpoint I'd a lot rather share the road with him than with some cellphone-addicted airhead unable to so much as operate the turn signal...one wonders how in hell do they manage to deal with the steering wheel? These are probably the same oh-so-prudent and responsible people who confuse the brake and accellerator pedals and crash at full throttle. And then get on TV to sell insurance and lecture the rest of us about being slow and safe? I drive mountain roads every time I go out; it is about practice, not just speed. OK this concludes my rant!

You guys may think that I am a reckless driver but on the contrary, I am a very responsible driver...obeying all laws and even waves to the highway patrolman when I pass by them.
Where can I find this stretch of road posted 107 speed limit?

I fracture speed limits on a regular basis, in fact I feel their primary purpose is to help generate funds, but 100 in a truck is asking for trouble.

Arrow Re: Topped Speed

There is no proven way to eliminate the electronic speed governor Toyota installed on our trucks.
Unichip does not and will not offer this mod.

I have hit the electronic wall countless times and IMHO with correct speed rated tires and street
performance suspension mods, the Tundra could safely cruise @ 120 mph.
