I e-mailed jack with this response to removing the speed limiter. He says it can be done.
His response: I asked about removal of the speed limiter and how its done:
Thanks for the inquiry. It can be done with the Unichip and a roadspeed module, and is a special order component. We don’t sell the kits that way because some Tundra’s suffer from CEL’s and some hard shifts when they are cold/first started and driven in the morning. The Unichip harness has a switch to enable/disable the roadspeed feature and as long as you have it disabled until the truck is warmed up everything’s good, otherwise you will probably get a CEL. Is this a new purchase or modification of an existing Unichip kit?
Another clown that is going to kill or get killed. What if you swerve to avoid an animal or another vehicle at that speed? Wake up and grow up!!! If you want to drive like an a**hole, buy something that is made for that speed.
I love speed, that's one of the reasons I bought the 2wd V8 Tundra.Do you really live your life by the credo "what if"? I don't. Still here at the ripe old age of 51 years young.Wake up & grow up? Oh please! You sound like a real wuss. So if I have something that's "made for speed" it's o.k. to use that power? But, wait........WHAT IF....blah,blah, blah..... I've gone over 170 m.p.h. on a public road on a vehicle that is "made for speed", glad I got your "blessing" to use all that power.
Where can I find this stretch of road posted 107 speed limit?
I fracture speed limits on a regular basis, in fact I feel their primary purpose is to help generate funds, but 100 in a truck is asking for trouble.

"asking for trouble",ummm, other than getting a speeding ticket, etc, did you mean "what if"? My ALL STOCK '05 Hyundai Santa Fe with the V6 200 h.p. had a factory set top speed of 117 m.p.h. Smooth, under control, and no worries. My '06 Ridgeline topped out at 112 m.p.h. Smooth & safe. Just because it's a truck, dosen't automatically mean it shouldn't have a respectable top speed. This isn't the '60s here, it's the 21st century! Trucks have come a LONG way. Ya sound like another wuss
There is no proven way to eliminate the electronic speed governor Toyota installed on our trucks.
Unichip does not and will not offer this mod.
I have hit the electronic wall countless times and IMHO with correct speed rated tires and street
performance suspension mods, the Tundra could safely cruise @ 120 mph.
I have a 2003, and I had mine done before the truck was a year old........had to research it first..........and it is a request option.......

And you sound like another 16-year-old.
Your vehicle may very well be stable at speeds over 100 MPH, but average drivers aren't. All they can do at that speed is point the vehicle. I'm sure you consider yourself an above average driver; about 90 percent of all drivers do. Also, there are a number of factors you have zero control over; other drivers, road condition, animals....
BTW, My '98 LS1 topped out at 155. Did it; was stupid, but I did it. Oh, and I'm an above average driver.

I had asked about it when UniChip first hinted at a system for the Tundra.
Break it down for us - what all did you have to do in order to bypass the speed limiter?
i hit the top speed the day i got my truck and have been hitting it on a regular basis and have had not had a problem with it yet. had my volvo at 125 and had no probles with it. am i saying it is the smartest thing to do? no but my truck is perfectly capable of handiling it. so it comes down to me thinking that you are a wuss

I would be a bit hesitant about removing the top speed without the proper speed rated tires.
I myself never speed, and always brake for the little kitty cats crossing the street.
Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have ever made a difference in the world, but the Marines don’t have that problem. —President Ronald Reagan

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're saying I'm an intellegent wuss and you're a risk taking idiot? I'm not sure if you're trying to insult me or yourself.
New to posting on the group, but yes Jet can reset the speed limiter and correct 2-3 days turn around. But UniChip can
also do this work, and it's a piggy back computer that doesn't tattle on the owner. And you are correct equipment tires are
not rated for that speed. But they will do that speed ++ for a short time. Speed rating on tires arefor a time of 60 minutes.
That is why the boys in the pits have to change out the slicks on race trucks several times during a Truck Series Race.
Even slicks (read drag slicks that will sustain speeds in the 200++ range) will blister and fail over a sustain speed run that
the non-stock Tundra engine can push the tin. P.S. '60s Amphibious Navy (sic Vietnam) Sempa Fi
Abe Lincoln is quoted to have said: "It's if better to remain silent and thought a fool, than to speak up and remove all
doubt." I happen to have in my hot little hands a hard copy from Dastek Piggyback computers (Unichip) that shows the
wiring for simply removing the speed limiter. It was found on this forum and posted on this particular group. I've hit the
damn thing also. Only with the lower rated tires, which by the way will sustain speeds alot faster than 100+; but only for
short periods of time. Even the Nascar slicks that are no different that drag slicks and are rater for speeds that would give
a traffic cop nose bleeds are not rated for thier speeds for more than 1 hour. PERIOD! Even the tire on the Bugati will only
do thier rated speed for 1 hour. They are just rubber. Not kevlar. Thier saving grace is they are extremely low porfile and
when they fail, the suspension only has a short amount of fall before the rim and what's left of the rubber hits the fan.
Ya...uhh, I've never done anyone illegal under any circumstances. Waited till legal age before I even smelled a beer, never smoked one of those left handed cigarettes, never rolled a stop sign, never saw how fast a vehicle could go when no one was around....ever. Wouldn't even think of it.
Amen, Last I saw this was America, people should be able make a choice for them self’s, speed or not, we all break the law, there’s allot of idiotic laws made by some A-hole politician vying for publicity using some tragedy or obscure "ACCIDENT" to appease the public. That’s why there called accident, not perposements. People make choices everyday that could end there life’s, in a flash. There’s no way to know when were going to go so let people alone and let them live there life’s, and stop crying a river less you want to write every sports player, politician, movie star, ect and try and convince them to stay home and wrap them self’s in bubble wrap, and hire a guard to keep them safe. Until then I’m going to fight against all these stupid laws strangling us more and more everyday. I think I’ll go speed, run yellows and run with scissors! MUHUHUUUUHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!!!!
