While driving home late the other night (1:00 am), I decided to see if my truck could run to (120MPG)
There was no cars on the freeway except me so I punched it (WOT)....first thought, "GREAT POWER!!" than at 107MPG, it shuts down. I'm like "Hell NO!!!"
Second attempt...WOT and again at 107MPG, it shuts down once more . Thinking to myself, "My Worst Nightmare Is True." I read in this forum that you couldn't pass 107MPH but I did not believe this until I saw this happened with my own eyes .
So now I am looking for a way to take this speed limiter off. Anyone out there know?

The governor is there for your safety. The tires from the factory are not rated for high speeds. There are aftermarket products that raise your top speed, though I wouldn't recommend that unless you mount the appropriate tires.

First of all, gen-x MPG=Miles Per Gallon, I think you meant MPH
Another clown that is going to kill or get killed. What if you swerve to avoid an animal or another vehicle at that speed? Wake up and grow up!!! If you want to drive like an a**hole, buy something that is made for that speed.

Eventhough I do not intend to set a record top speed, I would like to know that I can put 120MPH when needed. The gage says 120MPH and by god I want to be able to hit that mark Can I scream "FALSE ADVERTISEMENT?"
I remember doing 150MPH on my old SS and DAMN... what a rush You guys may think that I am a reckless driver but on the contrary, I am a very responsible driver...obeying all laws and even waves to the highway patrolman when I pass by them.
So like the above poser say...where can I find the product to get me where I want to go?

If I recall correctly, it was jet performance. I remember reading an old thread, in which the member stated he sent his sent his control unit to them and told them to adjust the top speed when they upgraded it for performance. The only thing bad about that is you have no ride until you get the unit back (3-4 business days.) Somebody please correct me if jet will not do this.

Just because the speedometer has a arbitrary mark on it, you feel you should go that fast? It is because of people like you they have to put idiot stickers on everything. Why must you feel you have the right to endanger the lives of people on the road with you just so you can go fast?
At 100 MPH at night, you are overdriving your headlights by 25MPH (give or take 10 MPH). That means by the time you see something in your headlights, you will be hitting it before you even have a chance to react.
Take out the factor of nighttime and headlights. A pickup truck is not designed to go 100+ MPH. It has a high center of gravity, no body work to keep air from getting between the vehicle and the road, and completely wrong suspension for high speed driving. Most tires are not designed to withstand the heat created by speed going that fast for long periods of time.
Racecars are designed for speed, but still the car is checked over from head to toe before each race. Chances are you didn't even check your tire air pressure before getting in the truck that week, much less making your you didn't have any potential problems before getting behind the wheel. At a 100+ MPH, even small things can be lethal. Blow out a front tire - your probably dead because you don't have rollbars, and other safety devices that racecars are designed with.
Yeah, really impressive coming on here and letting us know how little you care about your life and those who drive around you.
I am just glad you live far away from me.
One question, if you obey all Laws, then how is it your doing 150 MPH in your previous car and doing 100+ down the freeway at night in your truck?

This is going off topic but to answer your question...I give you some questions.
Why don't every driver not drive 55MPH when the posted sign says 55MPH?
When you get someone cruising 55MPH in the fast lane, why is he viewed as the slow driver.
Why put in intakes, exhaust, filter?
I drive according to the flow of traffic but in open space...I do let it out to see it's potential. Why I pick the time I picked? Maybe because there were no cars around and I want to see what my truck is worth.
Like I say earlier...I read that the truck couldn't do over 107MPH. There is definitely a reality difference between reading someone's story and actually experiencing the fact for yourself.
Cali D: Thanks for that info. but I was hoping for something like HPP3 where you can program and restore your original setting back when needed.

As the old saying goes, " Inflammable Is Not A Challenge"
I would think neither is the top number on a truck speedometer. One minor event, (deer/dog crossing in front of you, road debris resulting in a tire blowout, etc) could make for a bad day.
I've seen some nasty accidents caused by high speed "playing". Like someone else said, if you feel the need for speed, do it on the track.
