Unhappy Tundra Headlight Strobe Install??---OK??

I just bought a 2005 Toyota Tundra SR5 Access Cab. I do Vol. Search and Rescue Occasionally. I would like to install Headlight Strobes.

I removed the Headlight today, and removed the lamp. The headlight looks like it is double insulated. Its got the inner plastic housing (which is what I would drill a hole in to install the strobe) Then it also has another plastic housing around the first plastic housing, and space in the middle between the two plastics.

I was wondering if anyone out there could tell me if its going to be OK if I drill through these. I guess I would have to drill a bigger hole on the outer housing, and a 1" hole in the inner housing to install the strobe.

I just don't want to have to but a new headlight!!

A friend of mine has strobe lights on the front corners and rear turn signals of his ride. If you go to a company called galls.com, they are a law enforcement supplier. The last time I checked, they have headlight strobe kits.

I allready have the strobes. I took them off the truck I had before this one.
I am just wondering if I can drill through this existing headlight. without causing any damage or fires. I have never seen a headlight that's "double insulated" before.

the only real thing that sucks about driling into the headlamps is when you break through, you usually kill the chrome inside the headlamp.. since you can't really put tape over it, it rips it up and it looks retarded.. maybe the grommet would help cover it? im not a headlight strobe expert.. but thats the only real reason i wouldnt want to put it there..

as far as drilling it, i dont see why not.. maybe you should look for another cheapie headlight on ebay ($20 maybe?) from a tundra and use it as a test project.. thats what i would do

Or go to a junkyard and pick up a damaged headlight for cheap or free to experiment with.
