About 3 weeks ago a was washing my truck and the brush broke and made a huge scratch on the door. God was I pissed. I took it to a local shop that did some work before. I warned them Im a nut with this truck I used to paint so it better be mint. Well I got it back and it was raining . The next day I could see the guy who sanded the truck used his hand instead of a block and it had waves in the door, overspray and a run. The door looked like it had adent it was so messed up. Took it back and got it today. Now the door is fine but they blended the rear door and got overspray inside the door. The best is when they rubbed it out be burnt though the quarter panel paint. He didnt even have to blend the door let alone f-up the bad. Tehn they even marked up the molding on the door with the wheel. Well with this b.s end. Cant antbody do a job right. God for bid you ck it out before you give it back. Now the whole side of the truck needs to be repainted. I want my money back. Now the cap will have to come off too. I need a beer to relax. I have enough stress at work dont need it from this b.s.
You sound like me. Sorry to hear about the mess on a nearly new truck. I guess I've come around to the way of thinking that says that I no longer trust ANYONE to work on anything of mine, to the point that if I scratch the paint, I just live with it now. Then I only have to be angry with my own stupidity, which limits my overall stress. There is so little competence left in the world, and I don't have the time and patience to find it.
I did a similar trick with my 2005 also; about a week after I bought it I leaned a piece of fiberglass sheet against the open tailgate and cut it with a hacksaw. You can guess the rest.

If the shop is a member of the Better Business Bureau, file a complaint with them. Not only did they screw up once, but TWICE. That just isn't right and I wouldn't even THINK of taking my truck back there a third time for them to screw it up even more.
I have some "blemishes" on my truck. I had to have some hail damage repaired, and my rear driver's side door doesn't match the front exactly. Desert Sand Mica is VERY hard (as are some metallics) to match closely. I also, due to my own stupidity, have a dented tailgate when a rocking chair I had on top of a load (and improperly tied down) swung out and hit my tailgate. I also have

people make mistakes though.. so let them fix it again and give him some money back before maybe deciding to file a complaint with the BBB. Or threaten the action first.
Well lets see. I bought my 06 double cab limited on Sept 8th, Sept 11th took it to Auto trim for clear bra and window tint. Business next to theirs painted their building and covered my brand new truck and 4 others with overspray. They tried to get the overspray off and scratched my left rear door in the process. Sept 12th drove through a construction zone and got white road stripping paint all over the side of the truck and all over in the wheel wells, Sept 16th found out sunroof has major factory flaw requiring the whole interier be taken out. Still don't have it back from that yet. Does this make you feel any better? I skipped the beer and went right for the whiskey.

from the beginning you should have made them pay for the whole new paint job. "it'll buff out" shouldnt be considered at all with stuff that like.

Never threaten the BBB, just do it. They tried to fix it TWICE already and it is even worse.
If you feel comfortable taking your truck there a third time, let them know they'd better fix it right and you won't be recommending their shop. Most businesses don't realize how BAD word-of-mouth can be, or who will hear it. Should the truck not be fixed, and any and all overspray remain, just call the BBB, file a complaint, and do whatever you have to do to get your truck fixed.

I would talk directly to the business owner, give him the option to personally oversee the entire repair or it goes to the BBB, and remember to take lots of before pics...you know, for your friend at the local newspaper.
Ive learned you can't have nuthin nice. When I look at the nice dent in my left front I think of a by-gone day when I would've gotten frazzeled trying to get it right. people still say, "Nice truck, can I have it?" That person didn't even notice it (the dent) or gives a crap. Tundras are awesome, nuff said.
