Hi, I bought my truck second handed and donīt know if it has LSD, it doesnīt has the white sticker, if was present now has gone cause of dirt and rust, etc.
The truck is Access Cab 2000 4WD. How can I tell if the dif is lsd.
I forget exactly how this goes, but I believe you can jackup the rear end, and spin one rear wheel. the other should spin the same way if it is LSD. I suppose the transmission has to be in neutral also.
Guys, I jacked my truck put neutral and the rear wheels spin opposite!!!
Crap, i guess i donīt have lsd (I hunt a lot and in Bolivia we have a lot of mud). I need it badly.
Is there a chance that the lsd is present but worn out? that it behaves like an open dif? if so how can I know?

Not worn out. If they spin opposite, you don't have it. It wasn't available as an option in 2000. I don't think it was available until either 2003 or 2004 from the factory.

It wasn't even an option in the 00-01 Tundras. You can put one in though. Only cost you a couple hundred. You could also get a No-slip locker like I have. That would be good for you if your in the middle of no where often and are in a lot of mud.

Wow, didn't realize you were so far out. If you can get any shipping to you then you should be alright. Also keep a close eye in the classifieds here on TS. That's where I got my locker from and I got it for under half the sell price brand spankin new!

Get a Powertax or a Lockright Locker. Easy to install and cheaper than replacing your carrier for a TRD LSD.

Itīs strange that I have lsd on my Nissan Terrano 97 but no on a 2000 truck? by the way the terrano is the same as your pathfinders but mine drinks diesel.
Yes, it'll work. Depending on how many miles you have on your tundra, you'll need to either press off the carrier bearrings from your stock carrier and press them onto the TRD unit or purchase a new install kit with new carrier bearings and have them pressed onto the TRD unit. A master install kit will cost about $150-$200 US. This kit comes with new carrier bearings and pinion bearring, new shims etc. This would be a good time to regear if you had planned to. Also to be on the safe side, you'll need to properly set the ring and pinion with the correct contact pattern. Cost for someone to do it about $200 US.
If you got the Powertrax or Lockright, all you do is remove the spider gears, side gears and shaft (there's more to it) then, install the Powertrax or Lockright.
