1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Black headlights", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Mine are black. Bought them on ebay. Way easier than taking them apart, been there, done that....
And, yeah, they do look good, real good. I get people ask me all the time what looks different on the front. I say, what part?
I've got pics in my gallery, some of while I was switching them, one old, one new...

I have ebay ones on my truck as well. I can't see taking the risk of messing
up the factory lights, when you can get the same effect for a little more
money, not to mention you also get side markers.

200 bucks is not a "little more money" when I could do it myself for:
Plus silicon, plus a new headlight for the one you mess up
Plus, I don't know about you, but I pay myself... If it takes me 4 hours, that's 4 hours I could be doing something else, like watching TV
Seriously, I totally understand, I'm a do it yourself person myself, I refuse to pay anyone to do anything I can do myself. But, I've taken headlights apart, not fun, worth the $180 in my opinion...
Which ever route you take, you'll be happpy, they look great, especially on a black truck

i also ended up buying the ones on ebay 170 with shipping
for corners and headlights, but i think i might try to do the fog lights
myself since they dont sell black fog lights yet

I see your point. If i screw them up i guess ill will order the black ones. But atleast I tried to save money right? What did you do for the foglights?
Anyone do theirs like the tacoma guys are going it? Heat the lights in the oven and paint them? Not sure if it will work for the Tundra lights.
I'm curious to know how much, if any, this will decrease light. Is the beam shape the same or is there less spread? Anybody got beam pics before & after the mod?
If anything, I'd paint mine gold to match my truck...
You don't paint the bowl, where the light goes in just the outside. If you look at a pic you will see what i am talking about. Therefore it would not affect the beam.
