I just bought a 2001 Tundra with 90,000 miles. I also have the "mildew" problem on the rubber at the bottom of the driver and passenger side windows. There's also some mildew damage on the rubber molding on the roof.

It looks like the mildew has caused pitting in the rubber.

I tried mildew remover and rubber restorer products with no luck.

Not likely to be an easy fix. Any suggestions would be welcommed.

Have you only been using a sponge to try to rub it off? Rubber is very porous so you'll probably need to use something like a toothbrush.

For rubber, use gentle cleaners. Harsh stuff will dry it out faster so you'll end up having to replace it sooner.

Once you get it clean, use silicone spray or Wurth Rubber Care to preserve it. This makes the water bead on the rubber, which allows the rubber to dry faster and reduces the mildew issue.

The only thing I've found that works is Flitz metal polish. It's a lot easier with a buffer on a drill than by hand, just be sure to tape up the glass and paint near by.
