Question Remote Functions @ Airport

...a couple of times in our city's main airport (in their parking lot), my keyless entry did not work, and then was fine again when I got home. Also one other time when I was about 1/2 mile from the airport, the same thing happened. The physical key worked just fine and no problems.

Any ideas?

Also, at the end of this month my truck is going to be 2 years old and I guess it's probably time to change the keyless entry fob's battery.

That is not unusual. There is a lot of radio frequency activity near airports. Some say this just happens because they use lots of radio stuff...others claim it is done deliberately (i.e. jamming) for security issues. You will see similar things at some casinos.

They're not deliberately jamming anything. You can tell by the way the ground isn't littered with the smoking hulks of crashed airplanes.

It is possible to jam only portions of the RF spectrum. Airport security would simply leave the avionics bands alone so aircraft would not be affected.

As an example, here is an airport security device designed to block GSM (cell phone) frequencies.
