1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Keyless Entry", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Here's those pictures I promised... Hopefully they'll help you out. The box is actually slightly above and more towards the drivers seat than that box wrapped with electrical tape... only slightly though, you'll see in the pictures. That black piece of plastic that the "Green Button" text is over is the ventilation duct to the side vent on for the driver.
Good luck... also, when you hold the green button, make sure its for a full 3 seconds, and make sure you don't press it again for a minute or two if you screw up... pressing it twice can clear out all the remotes, then you'll have to program them both back in.
if you don't find the alarm box in the panel above the brake pedal, try underneath the driver's seat.
Instructions on how to program:
1.0 turn on the ignition
2.0 press and hold a small button on the alarm box, and at the same time press the top button of the remote.
3.0 you are done when you here a beep.
you have to remove the panel below the left side lower dash, above the brake pedal, then you have to reach up almost behind the cluster, once you grab the alarm box, pull it down and you will be able to program it then. some techs prefer to remove the cluster to do this. the entire operation should not take more than 10 minutes.

You don't have to remove it, the button can be pressed without taking anything apart... I've done it before. It is easier to program if you remove a few things though.
My husband removed the panel, but nothing looks like the ECU. Here are the pictures from under the panel. It's not there. We looked under the seat as well, but only the seat belt control is there.lynndawilm's Public Gallery - AOL Pictures
If the pictures aren't viewable, I can email them to you.

We removed the panel, but as you can see from the pictures, it's not there. Any ideas, or is it there and we just didn't realize it? The only thing under the seat is the seatbelt light control. We are stumped!

These units can be factory, distributor, dealer or owner installed. If it is factory installed or the person doing the install followed the supplied installation instructions, it would be in the location described by Ando140
Interesting... since you have the remote with the same fcc id as the factory keyless system, it has to be in there somewhere. On mine, the ECU is attached to the same bolt as that junction box wrapped in electrical tape.
I think your only option now will be to trace some wires back to the ECU. You'll have to take the panel on the left side of the parking brake off. To do this, you may have to remove the scuff plate that runs along the door sill first(4 screws and it pops off with a little work), but you might be able to get it without taking that off, I can't remember. Behind that panel is a connector block with a 2 pin connector on top. Trace the wire that this connector comes out of to a bundled wire then that bundled wire should go back to and connect into the ECU.
If that doesn't work, there's other wires you can trace back to it, but this one is the easiest.
Any luck finding that thing Lynnda? Its gotta be somewhere on the driver's side.
My husband gave up after taking the front plate off last weekend. I believe he will give the other suggestion, you made about following the wiring, a try this weekend.
Hey guys I just purchased an 03 AC Tundra and love it......The dealer gave me that normal BS of no alarm. But I stumbled on to this great site and read this thread.
I have been able to locate the ecu so it did have keyless entry. But the box is all wrapped in foam. The only thing I see is a dial that has 1-11 numbers on it. is the button under the foam?
Thanks

The 03's have a different alarm than the 00-02's. The 03 & up has the RS3200, while the 00-02's have the RS3000. I'm not sure what you have to do to activate the alarm (I think it may be the same), but I'm pretty sure the programming is done without doing anything with the ECU. I think its something odd like turning the key from ACC to ON several times, opening & closing the door, running around the truck, opening the tailgate, whistling dixie for 8 seconds (ok, I added a few things)... Try doing a search for RS3200 programming or something like that...
Don't know what the dial could be for unless you're looking at the glass break ECU (which wouldn't make sense if it didn't have the alarm option).
