My 02 Tundra LBRC 3.4 actually got better mileage than both of my earlier Tacoma's; '98 3.4 A/cab PreRunner automatic & 02 3.4 Double cab PreRunner automatic. Both of these could get from 13~18.5, and the 18.5 was rare indeed. The Tundra could get 15~22 with 19-19.5 being common. Gearing and tire size were virtually identical, and all mileage ratings were after determining speedo/ODO error; speedo corrected by slightly larger tires, ODO figures factored in a ~4% add on. The Tacoma's seemed to have a higher stall converter, with a later lock up, just felt that way, have not seen any specs. I never knew anyone who got extremely high MPG's with the 3.4; great powerplant, just so so mileage.

As for pixie dust; no one knows where the great reservoir lies, it just seems to appear when one least expects it, but for sure the method of distribution is not to just fling it about; it must be either gingerly sprinkled, or gently tossed in a slow graceful arch that does not exceed a 75º angle of travel. The preferred distribution agent would be a cute 3 year old girl, although older ones will suffice also. To achieve 25+MPG in a V8 Tundra usually require, in addition to the pixie dust, 1 magic wand, and 1 pair of gold slippers capable of clicking heels. These can be hard to locate as you know..........

Still waiting on that pixie dust. I'll take a dispensor in the 35-40yr old range. Meanwhile my latest tank shows 14.7 mpg but I've been on the go pedal real hard today. That mean sounding injen cai is to blame.
