This is a discussion thread titled "Oil Pan Drain Plug Gasket - 4.7l V8", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Hello All, I am trying to identify the difference between the two Toyota factory drain plug gaskets - part number 90430-12028 vs 90430-12031. Both are listed as good part numbers with high inventory, but no one at any of the dealerships can tell me the difference in the two. Some have suggested using a metal drain plug washer w/a rubber seal built-in, but it's probably easier to keep the oem. Thanks for your help - All the Best, Sam Michael Jr,Jax, FL

On my 03 4.7L, I use the 90430-12031. It is metal with what looks like gasket material on each side. This part number is for a bag of 10.

I don't know about the part number but it shouldn't matter too much. Any sort of gasket should do the trick. I used to take some that they had sitting there at the dealership for free until they were gone. Then I got 6 that cost a little over a buck each. Typical gasket looking material with a little bit of metal on the inside.
Either way, just torque it and you shouldn't have a problem with any gasket as long as it fits.

I'm coming up on 93K, change the oil every 3K. Still got the original gasket. I might go crazy and get a new one!

I'll wash it next week.
The last time Tundradrenalin was over, we changed his oil. He had picked up a couple of Engine Oil Drain Valve kits, Part Number F-103N Thread Size 12mm-1.25 and he installed one on his truck. Nice fit, tucks up and is well protected by the skid plate.
He has since been about 1K or so I think and off-roading & mudding in SC on the meet there, and as far as I know, he has had no problems with it.
Over the next few days, I'll be changing my oil and will add the same valve kit. Never again will I need that gasket.
