Default Front drive shaft

Can someone please help me on greasing the front (four wheel Drive) drive shaft on a 03 Tundra V8. I can see the grease fittings but can't get the grease gun onto them. Is there a special way the drive shaft has to be?

If you can't snap the grease gun's coupler onto the fitting by turning the shaft (which turns freely while in 2WD), then you have too big of a coupler on the grease gun. Orientation of the shaft isn't critical; if you have a straight shot at the fitting then it should work.

I assume that you're using a flexible hose on the grease gun; it may be that with a solid line on a grease gun that you can't easily grease the fittings.

I can't remember if they're on the front or the back drive shaft (I think its the front), but there are some fittings you can't get a standard grease gun nozzle to. I've heard they sell some that are more narrow, but I've not seen them. What I did (after reading a suggestion posted by someone here) is got out the bench grinder and ground the nozzle down until the outer diameter was narrow enough to get in there. I'd say I had to take off about 3/4 of the metal around the outside edge of the nozzle. Works like a charm now... almost too good b/c I have trouble getting it off the fittings... also, a flexible hose helps a lot, but you still need a narrow nozzle.

You need a needle nose gun tip...

That pic is of one that someone posted a while back. Thanks, whoever that was!

Mine is similar. I got it at Sears. I had to really look for it there. The guy that worked there didn't have a clue as to what I was talking about. It was about fifteen dollars as I recall.
