Can anyone tell me what the battery specifications are for the OEM Toyota starting battery in a 2006 Tundra with the Cold-Weather package? I bought a 2006 DoubleCab from a wholesaler in Florida a few weeks ago. It had 65 miles on the odometer and the factory sticker still in the window, but it had been sitting on his lot since May (built in March '06). I guess he bought it at auction right before Toyota came out with the Tundra rebates and he couldn't resell the truck.
The battery apparently failed from sitting idle too long (may or may not make sense) and the dealer replaced the OEM battery with a NAPA battery that is only rated for 450 CCA. I didn't notice it until the sale was completed and I was back home in MO...
The truck starts and runs perfectly, but I'm concerned with the low CCA rating, especially in the cold of a Missouri winter.
450 CCA is marginal, nothing great. For comaprison, an Optima Red Top battery is 1000 CCA. If it starts getting cold out and your starts are REALLY dragging, then think about an upgrade. Millions of people with worse batteries still start every morning in farther north latitudes and manage. But if it bothers you, get a higher CCA rated battery.
SWSportsman, the truck had a sticker price of $29,250. I got it for $22,000 including the dealer fee's. Had 73 miles on it when I left the lot. It's an SR5 with LSD, the 17" alloys, cold-weather package, overfenders, fog lights, remote keyless entry, all-weather mats, etc. In my opinion, a pretty good deal.
I guess I'll just see how the truck starts this weekend. High today and tomorrow around 70, then all heck will break loose. temps supposed to drop about 40 degrees tomorrow night with a bunch of ice and snow coming in. Lows in the teens for a few days after that....
I think you will get by with that battery for a long time, the Tundra cranks only as long as it needs to start and I don't think it takes much. Just run with it until you first notice some type of problem.
sounds like you got a good deal!

Yep, I think you got a decent deal. Mine was MSRP $29,950 and I paid 22.5K.
