Default Locking Diff's (Suggestions?)

Gents,

I have an '06 DC 4x4 with the factory rear LSD. I'm looking to upgrade to the following diff combination:

1. Some type of auto-locker in the rear for when the going gets rough.
2. A driver-selectable locker in the front for when the going gets REALLY rough.

Suggestions? (And if I'll need to swap axles, suggestions there also.)

Thanks in advance!

well if ya want auto locker in rear I would go a detroit locker there. ARB air locker up front. Best bet would be Air locker front and rear.

Thanks for the suggestion(s). After looking at ARB's web site, I'm inclined to go with an ARB Air Locker in both the front and rear, as you suggested. A few quick questions that I couldn't find answers for on the ARB site:

1. Are the ARB Air Lockers able to shift on the fly (lock on the fly) while in 2H/4H/4L? Or does the vehicle need to be stopped or only in 4L? (I imagine the front locker will only engage when in 4WD and not 2WD?)

2. Will the ARB lockers fit on a stock '06 Tundra DC 4x4 with a factory LSD in the rear? Or will other changes need to be made as well?

3. How reliable is the compressor system in extreme environmental conditions? (SEVERE winter weather and SEVERE summer weather)

Thanks!

I will be the 1st to say I don't have one in my truck yet.
But what I understand is the factory componets come out the ring gear comes off the carrier and goes onto the ARB unit.
For several years when I was up in Washington I was with the Pacific NW 4 wheel drive association and we had alot of people running them in every kind of condition. Like anything with air its gotta be dry or the moisture will freeze things up.
Search and you will find your answers.
Heres a link to a post on this very subject.

I wouldn't waste my time with a rear auto locker. Just get the front selectable (ARB air?) locker for now and then consider adding a rear selectable locker (and if it's ARB you'll already have the Air compressor installed to work with a potential future selectable rear locker) in the future if you need more than the LSD in the rear.

Rear auto lockers blow, the LSD should keep ya moving without issue and you would have the front selectable locker there for insurance. Very few people push their trucks to the edge of even an Open Diff or LSD w/4x4 being undergunned anyways.

Let me know if you decide to make the change on the rear. I'll buy your factory LSD. I have a 2006 Tundra Access cab, V8, no LSD, and want to use the truck in the snow. I figure the LSD should help.
