I am curiouse if anyone out there can tell me from experiance how the Tundra does towing this much weight. Does it have the power for pulling hills etc.? Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks

Brian,
Since Oct 2001, I have been pulling a 30' Airstream (6,280 lb dry weight) with my 2002 4WD Access Cab Tundra. Including a 4,500 watt generator in the Tundra's bed, water, propane, personal items and full holding tanks at times, I would estimate the total weight to be well in excess of 7,500 lbs. I have had no problems towing or with the Tundra for almost 100,000 miles, about 1/3 towing the trailer. It will easily pull the trailer over any Rocky Mountain pass on a Canadian or U.S. highway.
Your Tundra should have no problems towing your trailer as far as I know. A couple of things we may have different is that the Airstream has very little wind resistance and my 4WD helps in handling the tongue weight and the generator in the bed of the truck.
Be sure to install electric brakes and a controller, a stabilizer and weight equalizer hitch with bars and a Class IV hitch on your Tundra. I think all or most Tundras are only equipped with a class III hitch which would not be safe with a heavy trailer.
Prior to my Tundra, I pulled the trailer with a T-100. It had problems with some mountain passes but made it over all of them.
Hope this helps.
