Default Re: Good Recommendation for AT tires good in snow/mud

I just replaced the stock tires on my 05 DC. I went with the 265/70/17 Nokian Vatiiva all season tires. I Live as far North as you can go in Michigan and we get a lot of snow and ice covered roads. The Vatiivas handle better in 2wd than the stock tires did in 4wd. The traction in snow or on ice is great while accelerating and stopping. The tires seems to be as quiet as the stock tires on dry pavement and they have a much more aggresive tread. The larger size and raised white letters look good on the Tundra too!

And you want them to last? The Sequoia has used 1/3 of the tread in 40,000 miles, which leads to a forecast life of 120,000 miles. The truck has new ones after 69,000 miles on the old ones. They spent lots of those miles on mountain roads where they were nearly always on a curve, which wears tires much more quickly. The cost per mile is pretty low.

Finally, wait 'til you get them on a highway ...

No, I don't have stock in Michelin. But, I won't buy any other brand of tire for my vehicles, and my brothers and I all use the LTX M/S.

Amen. I feel like an LTX M/S cheerleader sometimes, but they really are great tires. I just put my second set on my truck about a week ago. First set = 95,000 miles and still had probably another rotation left in them before they hit the wear indicators.
