I am changing tires from the Dunlop P265/65/17 to the Michelin 265/70/17. The Michelin is overall about 1.5" larger in diameter. Is this going to make much difference in the speedometer reading?

I was shopping tires this last weekend and I was looking at the 275/70r 17 and the guy said it would change my speedo. It would be about 4-6 mph off (would read slower than actual speed).
Can anyone verify this info.?
Also, can I fit this tire on a stock 06 DC 4X4 without rub?
Yup.....I run Nitto TerraGrapplers that are bigger than stock and my speedo is off by about 3 MPH and the ODO is off about 5%....I've confirmed this with my GPS unit....It doesn't seem to effect anything badly....(shifting, cruise, etc.)

Assuming you have P265/65R17 as stock, the following applies. You should not have any rubbing issues, but possible if the suspension is compressed (off-roading), but nothing to worry about in my opinion.
There's plenty of tire size calculators "out there", but this one will let you compare several at once. You'll still need input from others here about rubbing issues, but the tire and speedometer variances are just factors of math and measures. It also wouldn't surprise me if someone else posts a link to a better calculator, since that's one I found with only a quick look around.
Well, I just did i calculation from my old tires to my new ones, seems now that my truck will read that i am doing only 57MPH when I am really doing 60MPH. my 05 had the 16 inch BFG tires and those off road rims. I think they were 265/70/R16 if I remember right. I now have a 285 tire with 22 inch rims. so my new size is now 285/45R22 Website shows i am about 5% off. not much. Consider the benefit. If you ever wanna sell your Tundy... God forbid, then your odometer will show lower mileage then what is really on the truck! The bad thing... if you are on the freeway doing a bit over 74MPH according to the speedometer, the cop may actualy get you going at maybe 78-80 MPH since the faster you drive on bigger tires, the more the ratio goes up for actual speed, so you may get a speeding ticket, just a heads up!! also with my 285 tire on regular suspension and no lift, i clear fine and dont rub, if i have a lil more weight in the truck say like a passenger, and i do a fast u turn, i occasianlly hear a slight rub, very slight, not enough to even cause a problem!!
