Re: Welcome to TundraSolutions.com! - New Members/Tundra Owners Introduce Yourself Here
Glad to find such a comprehensive site for my Tundra. Just bough a 2003 access SR5 4x2 V6. The car lot bought it at auction and it has no owners manual or documentation of any type. Only one key was provided and it was not a Toyota key. I have power windows and locks and I joined this forum to find out if a key less remote was part of the option package when the truck was new. I was Hoping to find a way to enter a vin # and get additional information concerning the options when the truck was new. I see that this is not the case. Second question was concerning my cargo light remaining on after I exit the truck. I have to manually turn off the cargo lights but the headlights turn off automatically. Is there a fix ?Enough for my first post. Looking forward to joining the group

Hi. Just subscribed. Can't wait to dig in deep. Just bought an '01 Tundra AC Limited 2WD. Love it. 2nd Toy (1st was 95 Camry). Bought the Tundra because of the rep and also my 88 F150 XLT 4WD 4.9L is giving me headaches, unreliable and expensive to keep up (for sale). Tundra has 45K on it and got the extended warranty to keep it running. Looking forward to a great lifetime with my new Toy.

I am new to the site and will admit I traded my Ford Expedition in for a Tundra. Let the Flaming begin. The Tundra rides much smoother than my old Ford ever did so I will admit the error of my ways. If you can get past that I am really a nice guy. I promise so piss off kidding.
I have an 06 SR-5 model in the dark grey. I just got the first mod done which was tinting the front windows to match the back. I hated having the sun beat down on me with out any protection.
I hope to have several years of good luck with the truck as well as fun. The next mod will of course be LineX with a new solid bed cover painted to match. After that I will really have to look at what I want to do. I know I want a little base so I was thinking something from Crutchfield to put under the rear seats.

hey guys...i have a '00 tundra ext. cab TRD with alot of mods...just tryin to use this site to get help/ideas on what to add next...mostly lookin for ideas on a what brand screen to install and anyone installed a custom system that sounds decent? right now i have a 12" CVR kicker that just sits on top my back seat so im just lookin for new ideas
I picked up my 2003 Tundra on Friday, and I'm still as excited as a kid on Christmas.
What I have is a Imperial Jade SR5 extended cab 2wd with the V8. It's got 34,000 miles on it, and it's extremely clean. I bought it from CarMax after spending a few months looking for a Toyota or Nissan four-door truck.
I have a few questions that I hope you guys can help me with:
1. With 36,000-mile warranty coming up, is there something specific I should have checked out before I reach that warranty cut-off?
2. I have a bit of a rattle in the driver's side door I didn't notice on the test drive. It occurs when I hit a fairly good-sized pothole, and it registers a pretty good clonk sound. Is there a fix for that?
3. Can I brag to my friends that the 4.7-liter V8 is a drivetrain shared by some Lexus sedans? I read that somewhere.
4. Is it true I should only put premium unleaded in it?
5. How much will a fill-up cost me?
6. My truck has a paint-matched cap on it. It's fiberglass with no side windows. Is that something the former owner put on and painted or did some dealers offer the truck that way?
7. Has anybody out there with a cap like that installed lighting inside?
That's all the questions I have for you guys. I look forward to your replies and to participating on the forum.
just take a look over everything yourself just to make sure all nuts and bolts are tight... i'd maybe get the fluids changed everywhere too
was the rattle from when the window was down? i know on the tacoma there is a bolt that needs to be snug or the window shakes.. not sure if its the same on the tundra... but im unaware of anything to fix an actual door rattle
toyota recommends 91 or higher but i still run 87 or 89 and its fine... i think its for emissions reasons in california? but im not really sure
depending on which fuel grade, i think my 26.4 would cost around $75 to fill if on fumes and i was using 87 octane
Things to check for are: manifold leak, 02 sensors (covered to 90k), lower ball joints. Call toyota dealer with vin and they can tell you if your rig is affected.
Toyota manual states 87 octane, that's what mine has always ran with no problems. Toyota states only to use mid or super if you have engine pinging.
It's the same engine as the LX470.
For future reference: you can use the "forum jump" box, or a t.s. google search if you don't get all your questions answered.

Im Jumping Jim and just bought a new 4 door tundra. Lost one of the wireless remotes and the dealer sold me a new one for $ 135.00 then wanted another $ 115.00 to program the thing . If anyone has the info on programing a wireless remote for the 2006 PM me please. I will never pay my dealer that kind of cash for 15 seconds of work. Help me if you can. The dealer's should not treat their customers this way.
