My wife was driving my 2002 Tundra and walked in the door asking if I heard any strange noises from the truck on my home today. I didnt but she had 2 incidents of hard shifting with loud noises between 20-40mph. Has anyone else had this issue? I have 77+K miles and know I am going to get by the dealer to get them, to fix it.

I've had an 03 Tundra for 4 years now. I have close to 95,000 miles on it and I've remodeled almost every part of my house using the Tundra for my workhorse. Still has plenty of get up and go! I was thinking about getting a Trac Rac ladder rack and Retrax tonneau cover for it, but I may wait to put those on a new crew cab Tundra. Those look sweet!
One thing that's nagging me is the fact that I can't trust the lights off mechanism to keep from draining the battery. I've replaced the battery with an Optima Red Top, but I have to remind myself to turn off the lights manually unless I want to jump the truck before I go anywhere. The automatic lights off feature doesn't keep the lights from draining my battery even though it turns them off. Any suggestions other than what I do now. It's only been a few months that I don't use the truck every day, so it has plenty of time to drain the battery before I go to start it up again. When I turn them off on the column, I don't have the problem. I didn't have this problem until I stopped using the truck as often.
Also, my check engine light just came on out of nowhere. What kind of dianostic device is it that tells me the engine codes and where do I get a code book for my Tundra?

hellooooo tundra forum!
I've been reading this forum for over two months, why the h*ll did I not know about it until two months ago?!?!?
Anyways, I bought a Tundra AC 2005 4wd back in Feb.'05. I love it. Just clocked in my 20k mile marker. Nice low miles, as my daily drive is very short to/from work.
I installed a K&N Cold Air Intake over a year ago. Took me about 45 minutes to do myself. And WOW did I notice a difference from the stock. Not to mention the huge hunk of plastic that I removed from the engine compartment.
In the next few weeks I'll be making a couple of big renovations to my truck.
1. all new Phoenix Gold speakers.
2. lift-kit and BFG-muds.
I'll be reading up on the lift-kit in the forum. All advice welcomed. But as for the speaker upgrade, I got that covered. I'll be taking a full pictography of the install for a reference. I hope I can help others out with their upgrades in the future.

Hi all, since i read here most days i thought it time to join in. I own a 2005 DC Tundra SR5, TRD, matching fiberglass bed cover, and 17in wheels. This is my second tundra (had 2003) I tow a 26 ft. travel trailer, Equal-izer brand hitch, have towed all over the western states including the Rockies. My GCVR of truck and trailer is about 11200 lbs. For those intrested that is 600 lbs below rated 11800 lbs on the truck. My point is This truck pulls this weight so easlily it is hard to belive. I thought about trading up to the new 2007, but i just can`t talk myself into getting rid of my 05. I have only 24000 miles on it really just love it. So long story short, the 07 won`t make me give up my 05. Thanks for listening.

Hi, I have been on this for a while just never posted. Truck was just too good, still going strong at 190k! Got one issue the trailer lights are not all working!
I know there was a recall back few yrs ago. Need to look around and find out whats going on. I get one side working no juice in the harness for the other dirvers side or running lights.

Hello Tundra owners,
This is my 1st Posting. I am the original owner of a 1st Gen 2000 Tundra with 104K miles and it runs like a top. Have not had any major issues other than an oxygen sensor going out. Since day 1 I have been looking for performance upgrades with not much luck. The 1st Item I came across was a dual inlet and dual outlet exhaust. Finally a CA company called Bassani produced a system that really sounds sweet however I don't think they had the demand so I am not sure they still make them for early Tundras. I made a manuall update to my air box by cuttinga section on the side and added 20 inch wheels with 265/50/20 Toyo Proxies.
I am looking into a company SOS for a lowering kit 2" and 4". The state after the mod you may almost get the front aligned correctly, "almost" concerns me. I have looked at Downey Headers, do not want shorties. I also would like to set up the suspension for cornering better. I see there is a setup by Hellwig for a rear swaybar, does anyone know if there is something needed for the front end?

Hello All,

Im going out to clean the throttle intake see it that helps if not Ill be back here to see how to adj with my ohm meter I think?
This site is great , I love the internet for working on stuff, I also have a Roadstar Warrior Yamaha 1700cc.

Hi! I am the proud new owner of a Grey 2004 Toyota Tundra 4WD access cab stepside. It has the V-8 engine, the Off-Road Package, the Towing package and the six disc CD player. With 44,000 miles, it looks and runs like brand new. I've had it for 9 days and I've already installed the Truxedo tonneau cover.
I, also, have a 2005 Highlander, which I bought new.
I look forward to learning about my Tundra through this forum.
In fact, I bought the Truxedo brand tonneau cover based on what I read on this forum.
