It depends on what people are willing to pay, but I see used 1st Gen. Tundras in the paper here for more than I paid for mine new. I bought an 06 SR5 DC in Oct. of last year during the incentive period. They are advertising 05's equipped like mine for more than I paid for mine.
I am not sure about that...In Colorado at least the Tundras appear to be fetching top dollar. At our local dealer there is an '05 Tundra SR5, 4x4 DC, with 9,000 miles, cloth, etc. asking price of $32,000!! Now, yes, that IS asking price but maaan they are going to make you really work for a deal anywhere near what I am seeing coming out of TX.
When I traded my '03 Tacoma in for my '05 Tundra DC they had just introduced the new Tacoma. The dealer gave me back what I paid them for the truck and there was a guy waiting to drive my truck away...already sold. With the high price of the new Tundra it will keep our values high for a long time...that is why I am keeping my truck...it is everything I need.
Sorry guys, but it's just a truck. Older vehicles will continue to depreciate with mileage and years. The current model Tundra is years ahead in technology and capability regardless of what you may think of the body design. As the newness of the '07 wears off and supply catches up with demand (the current lot time is 12 days) Toyota will deal off MSRP more and that lower drive off price will be reflected in a devaluing of older models. There were 700K+ Double Cabs produced. There aren't enough '04-'06 fanatics to keep the resale values of that many vehicles artifically inflated. I like the '07 save for the dash. But my '04 is paid for and will continue to be my truck for another 200K miles.
