I think you need that small air cushion between the sub and seat. Also, if it's too deep in the enclosure you lose that space which might impact the performance of the subs themselves. They need a certain amount of enclosure space. I really like the JL's. They have plenty of "thump" for my tastes. Hope this helps...

I agree with Zombie on the mounting depth. I just got mine in last night and measured from the bottom of the box to the top of the baffle in between the two speaker holes. 4-5/8" on the nose. I'm also going to get a set of JL Audio 8" subs for the q-logic, but I can't decide between the 8W0's or the 8W3v2's. What did you go with Zombie? WD-40, when I get the box installed, I'll measure the gap from the baffle to the seat.
