You have to run it under the bumper. The behind the bumper version is for cars with plastic bumpers. It comes with a metal bracket that you bend to fit between the chrome over bumper (or painted) and the under brace. It ties into the reverse lights with a relay so it comes on when you put it in reverse. The best part is the sound and LED tree light warnings it gives you as you get closer to an object
