I will likely install them myself, waiting to hear about any fitment problems. As long as they are indeed a bolt on, no modification installation, at least that is what it will take for me so that I can uninstall them if the smog shop catches them on visual or when it's time to sell it. I will play the ignorance card if I get caught on visual and then reinstall stock for the test. I've had vehicles that were missing something for visual test before and was just told to go fix it and come back to get tested without it counting as a failed test. It's when they hook it up and test for emissions that really counts. I'll just cross my fingers that they don't even sweat me on it.
It would be a tough call to pay someone for installation. It seems I read on the V8s paying around $250-300 at local muffler shops. And then if you had to pay them again to reinstall stock manifolds would pretty much bite. As long as they are indeed bolt on with no modification needed, probably take you half a day to install. The only other headers I know of would be TRD, even the JBA for Tacomas have not really been verified as to whether or not they will work on the Tundra to my knowledge. For me the TRDs recquire welding which means I would be paying someone for install which would mean a minumum of $1000 for headers, probably more like $1100-1200.
Yep, I'll just wait to hear how installation went on the test truck and if all is well I'm game. Besides, I get the feeling we'll need everyone we can to reach 10 sets for the actual order when the time comes, even with the 10 yes votes on the poll.
Hey you are in Davis, I'd be willing to bet we could get 2 sets installed in a day if we got together
