I went to the dealer today and ordered another pair of rear window latches. One already broke misteriously and the other has a small crack in it that is probably going to get worse very quickly and break off.

Anyone else had this experience, aside from Leathernuts (different circumstances)? The parts guy told me that they've been getting alot of people with the same problem and that the new latch was made by a tougher material. However, its not covered under warranty (not even extended warranty) according to the service writer.

The part cost $30, which I'm not going to complain about because a broken latch only makes my vehicle more vulnerable to theft. But if anyone can shed some light on the warranty issue, I'd appreciate it. They also gave me an 800# to call to determine warranty coverage on this particular item which I'm going to call tomorrow.
