I "KNEW" this new bed wasn't ALL the dealers are playing it up to be! We had a dealer bring a new Taco to a local meet here in North Carolina, not long ago... as he was "raving" about how... "this bed can't be dented, like the ones on the Tundras and other trucks." The FIRST thought that went through my mind... and others at the meet... was... Yeah... well O.K., but I'll bet it can be "cracked" though! Well... you've just proven it "CAN BE"! Something tells me... this new bed design... was Toyota's try... at "cornering" a certain market share... of truck buyers... who won't buy a truck... unless the bed is sprayed with a "spray-in" bedliner! Since the dealer has to source that job out... it's a cost to them, as well as... to the buyer. With this new bed though... no cost is incured by the dealer or the buyer, which... in point of fact... "is" somewhat appealing. Also being able to make the "claim" the bed won't dent... I'm "assuming"... this is "why"... they "THINK" this will "corner" a certain market share! You've just proven... IT WON'T Chris!

I'D BE PISSED TOO!! If you can't even go "4Wheeling"... I can only imagine how "little" cargo weight this "new bed" can take before it too... would crack! I'd be willing to bet... the sharp corner of a heavy cement block... accidently dropped in the bed... could "possibly" crack it as well!

If I were you... I'd be a the dealership... ASAP! I'm willing to bet... it's not a... "repairable fix"! The entire panel... next to the cab... will... "more than likely" have to be replaced... "IF"... even a panel can be replaced!!! Matter of fact... I'm not even sure I'd "tell" the dealer that you had a camper shell attached when it happened! If there's nothing in the owner's manual about a... "warning"... in using a camper shell... even if you "do" decide to tell them... you stilll have a leg to stand on! But keep in mind... the dealer's "DEFINATELY"... gonna' question... "how" this happened. So... have "your ducks in a row"! Be prepared for all the "cruves" they're sure to throw at ya'! But... BE RESOLVED... and... DON'T LET THEM INTIMEDATE YOU!

Keep us informed as to what happens! I think we'd ALL... VERY MUCH be interested... to know how this turns out for you!

Best of luck!

Dave
yea the guy at the meet was bragging about this new design but after seeing these picture's would you buy one now? My advice is this i think it also cut's cost too.If this was my truck i would be heading to the dealership and make them fix it regardless of the type of use you put on your truck there should be no reason for there design flaw(Toyota will pay for this repair).
