The big advantage of getting the JBL system is that you get the component speaker enclosures, separate tweeters, JBL amp, steering wheel controls, and perhaps most importantly, the wiring harness that supports plug & play installation of all the other goodies like the VSE subwoofer and oem nav unit.

As to quality differences between the OEM unit and an aftermarket, the only thing I can tell you is that the oem will be a VERY simple installation, whereas an aftermarket will be more diificult and will require some level of customization. The downside of the OEM unit is that it does not play MP3 discs or DVDs but you can enhance the factory nav unit to support auxilliary inputs for both DVD and iPod (which is what I plan to do).
