I finally got around to installing my comps up front. They sound pretty good, but running them off the stock head unit just aint gonna cut it. I went down to the local Best Buy (because I have a $100 gift card that I'm trying to unload) and inquired about an amp and the installation. The quoted me $240!!! They included **$80** for an amp kit!

When I told them I would bring my own amp kit, they said fine, but that's still $170.

Is this typical??
Anyway, it looks like I'll be tackling an amp installation. This will be my first, so I'm sure it will be an adventure. I'm planning on getting an amp with speaker level inputs just to make it a little more simple (like the Kicker KX350.4 -- opinions welcome). I'm also planning on getting a fifth of Makers Mark and a pack of Marlboros to turn to for advice during the installation. So I have a few questions:
1) I'm planning on installing it under the passenger seat. I know I'll have to cut the carpet to run wiring. Will I need to remove the seats in order to do all of this? I'd rather not.
2) I've read where a lot of people are having trouble with their amp turn-on lead. Is this a real PITA?
3) Any comments on the amp I'm looking at? I'm powering two Pioneer TS-C1653 comps up front, and have a set of CDT CL-6 midbass coming in anyday for the rear...
Thanks!
