Yea, I called them Toyota Customer Care, they informed me that it is more helpful to have the letter of recall because some customers have been complaining that they try to get their recall done and have to pay up front, then if they are indeed in the recall they will be reimbursed.?? Funny, but I asked if it was absolute, she could not say for sure that not having your letter would be a detriment. I get the feeling if you complain of shuddering or vibrations they advise you to go without it. But she also explained to me that since the dealers are separately owned and operated, then it is up to them how to respond to customers without letters. I was told the mailers should be reaching me soon, if not within another week I might have to insist to my local dealer. I have some towing to do second week in Aug so I don't need anything to break.
