do you all think that is a bit excessive? not sure of the hourly labor rate but as far as i know it just involves rerunning some wires to the new deck - right?
well i am gonna go to another shop in the area to see what they say, however i am interested in your input.
also any suggestions with what I should get to replace the factory amplifier with? i am looking to upgrade sound quality and will replace speakers soon as well.
thanks all!

$80 probably isn't too bad for that work.
If you plan to upgrade speakers.........have them bypass the OEM amp for now, but seriously consider adding an aftermarket amp when you upgrade your speakers. The HU does not put out a lot of power and you will want more once you invest in better SQ speakers. It will sound OK off the HU with new speakers, but you might as well go all the way like most of us have since you've spent the green on a new HU and speakers.
I can personally suggest the eD amps. I am running their Nine.4 in my Sequoia and love it. I'm powering CDT comps, coaxials and a 12" CTD sub. eD also has a great prices on their comp systems.
