Default Re: TSB's for '93 pickup

Man there sure seem to be a lot of 93 pickup owners on this board!!

I have a 93 xtra cab 4x4 pickup with the 3.0 V6 with 165,000 + miles and it's in great shape.

You should call a dealership and tell them you want to check if your truck needs any recall work done. If you give them your VIN they will look it up for you.

I strongly suggest that you switch to Synthetic Oil (I run Mobil one 10w30 synthetic) on your truck on top of making sure that your cooling system is in top shape. This means maybe replacing (potentially) your water pump, making sure your coolant is topped up, and your thermostat and rad, and all the hoses are in good shape. By switching to synthetic (yes it is more expensive but synthetic oil runs a little cooler, and it lubricates better which will give you a very mild horsepower increase and a very mild gas mileage increase) and making sure your cooling system is in top shape will prolong the life of your engine and really help ensure you don't have any issues with overheating which could cause premature head warpage which could cause the head gasket to blow. Contrary to popular belief, the 3.0 V6, although a little gutless albeit descently torquey (it was Toyota's first V6 though), will go forever and is everybit as reliable as the famed 22RE (and it has more moving parts than the 22RE!). Just again make sure your cooling system is in top shape and you are on top of regular maintenance. 47,000 miles? Your truck hasn't even been broken in yet!!

Hope you enjoy your truck, I love mine!
