I used the lock nuts also, but mostly because I'm stubborn. I'd just keep an eye on the nuts since they're accessible through the wheel wells. I ended up putting a piece of metal about 1/4 x 2" x 8" under the funny screw deal and finally got it to keep it from spinning. I did use mucho cuss words while doing it. My wife stuck with me to the end though. After 45 years she's getting used to it.
