2002 Sequoia Transmission Failure
I have an '02 Sequioa Limited that is having transmission problems. It starts, but when it goes into gear it surges and dies, like a 15-year old trying to learn how to drive a stick shift. I had it towed to the local Toyota dealership, who told me I needed a new transmission because "the magnets in the pan were full of metal shavings." They quoted a remanufactured transmission as around $3200 and I am waiting for a quote for a new one.
Any thoughts? Is this something common with these? Any service bulletins I should be aware of?
I've had the car for six months, put 6,000 miles on it, and towed a boat once a total of 17 miles. Bought it from the Toyota dealership that has it now. Won't cost me a dime more to raise hell...
