Yesterday, while pulling into a driveway, the "check engine" light suddenly came on and there was a loss of power. They engine didn't die; the tach went to about 1,000 RPM like it was at idle. When I pressed on the gas pedal, the engine would not accellerate. In fact, pressing on the gas seemed to have no effect.

So I stopped the truck, shut it off, started it back up, and it ran normally. The check engine light was still on for about an hour, then it went off. Truck ran fine, but then it did the same thing several hours later. Any ideas?

TIA
LawyerRon, couple of thoughts. Check your gas cap.
Also, go by autozone and have them hook it up to the code reader.
Then post your code and shmeone should be able to help you out.

good Luck,
