For 6000$ less you get 9.6 vs h3 9.1 ground cleareance,
Bigger driver inside
4295lbs vs overweigh 4700lbs h3
better gas from ten times better engine than any gm v-6 they make, and h3 only has inline 5 option.
more cargo space from smller vehicle.
17 inch wheels vs 16inch.
way more torque and 500lbs better towing.
And hey who are you fooling read some reviews the h3 is for trails and camping, but mostly looks. If you really want to off road and not have to take the vehicle into the shop tens times and have resale value buy toyota. Don't mean to sound like a sales man because I love camaro's but the biggest reason I bought my 4runner was for resale, and the engine. Gm is way behind the times in the engine depatment. H3 needs the crawl ration because of the weak engine.

Are we talking about the FJ or your 4runner?
Have you seen the Underbody Protection Package on the H3? It practically cages the entire underbody of the vehicle, and has 2" rock rails on each side.
The H3 comes with more standard equipment than the FJ, so your price comparison is misleading.
The H3 Adventure has 33" tires, while the FJ only has 32's. The 16" wheels are not a factor off-road, it's tire diameter and sidewall height.
The H3 gets 16/20. The FJ get 16/19. It doesn't sound like it is better on gas, and the H3 does this on Regular gas!
So, according to you they doubled the overall crawl ratio, because it has 10% less torque at an idle. Yeah, right. I don't know what kind of rock crawling you're doing, but mine is not done at full throttle.
And would you like to tell us what part of the H3 engine is so far behind the times? Let's see. 4 valves per cyclinder, double overhead cams, electronic throttle. GM get 62.8 hp/liter, while Toyota only gets 59.8 hp/liter. GM does this with one less cylinder, and on Regular gas vs. Toyota's Premium gas!!! GM gets more mileage out with their engine in a vehicle that weighs 400 pounds more. No, GM doesn't know what they are doing. I only wish they had put a V8 in the H3.
I read the reviews of the H3. Everyone concluded that it is a fantastic offroad vehicle (not as great an on-road vehicle). I don't what reviews you're reading. I guess it's the same ones that think the FJ is as good as a Jeep Rubicon offroad, the Rubicon with the straight Dana 44 lockers on both ends. We won't even get into the '07 model with the electronically disengageable front sway bar.
I think the FJ is a better overall package for what I want to do, but I'm not going to kid myself that it is better than the H3 or Rubicon offroad.
