Default Why are Tundras So much more $ in Canada?

A new Limited 4x4 Double cab in USA is $36,450

Now the same vehicle in Canada is $48,015

These prices are before taxes.

The Canada dollar is worth 89.6% of the USA dollar, so a fair price in Canada would be: $36,450 us / 89.6%

= $40,678 can

this is $8k less than it actually retails for in Canada.

I wonder is there is this big differnce based strictly on the gains the Canadian dollar has made on the US dollar in the past 5 years?.

Or maybe someone could shed some light, on any extra surcharges/ fees, vehicle manufacturers pay in Canada?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about this big difference, I'm just really curious about it.

If theres no real reason for this, Toyota (and others) must be making very little off USA sales per vehicle, and making a killing of Canadian sales per vehicle (Like $8K more per truck).

Any thoughts are welcome.
