My AVN 30 was dealer installed in my 2005 Toyota Camry as a present(six months after car was bought) . The installer apparently knew set it up so that it always
looks like the brake is on to the GPS system. I don't know the detail but I suspect it is just a case of "grounding" or "connecting" the
control lead to a positive source. Unfortunately I don't think I have the installation manual. Will check and if I find it will re-post with whatever info I find.
System works absolutely great. You can even use it to check your speedometer setting/accuracy [and re-calibrate it to compensate for tire wear].
