Default Re: Toyota addresses Tacoma transmission

Yes, mine acts the same way. Another strange issue is that the transmission is too quick to downshift when going downhill. I agree, the transmission in my '05 Silverado was hands down better at always knowing what gear it should be in. My other vehicles have manual transmissions, so my Taco's automatic trans. really annoys me with its dumb shifts. The shudder feels a little like a worn clutch that 'chatters.' Not very severe on mine, but I do feel it occaisionally. I suspect that this transmissions' programming hurts gas mileage as it doesn't coast very well--have to keep my foot on the gas. I wrote a letter to Toyota today requesting a fix. If they fix the trans. and my weak rear suspension, I'll be very happy with this truck. It is otherwise very solid. A few minor issues remain, but nothing is perfect!
