Default Code P1135 Fuel Air Metering 2001 4runner

i have a 2001 4runner, v6, 3.4l, 73000 miles, the CEL just came on and the code P1135 Fuel Air Metering popped up. i have done a little research, and understand that some people are calling this an o2 sensor problem, but others are calling it an A/F Sensor Heater Circuit (bank1 sensor1) problem. which is it????????

on my diagram it shows that this sensor is on the passenger side of the engine, maybe on the manifold itself???? (but on the upper side of the exhaust pipe(engine side not the tailpipe side)) right or wrong???

what is the the name of the part i need to replace this with, just an o2 sensor or something named A/F heated o2 sensor????

and where is the best place to find it??

thanks for all the help and any further help would be greatly appreciated!!!

It is not an o2 sensor. It is called an A/F ratio sensor. There is a heater that burns out in the sensor. It is a simple replacement. It is in front of the Cat on the passenger side. The nuts aren't the easiest to get to and just hope that they are not too badly corroded. If you can get them off, it is a 15 min job. If you have to fight with them, it could take a while. I would suggest getting new nuts and gasket along with the sensor. You can get the sensor from the dealer. On line dealers like sponsors of this site such as Toyota of Dallas will get you the best price. It should run around $150 for the sensor and another $15 for the gasket and the nuts. Avoid after market parts. You may still have problems.

It is pretty common for the age. The sensors don't have a very long life span. I just replaced mine on my 01 Tacoma a few months ago.

Online it will probably be labeled as an oxygen sensor. I know the one that I replaced on my Tacoma was labeled that, but on the invoice and when I called the parts dept they called it a heated air/fuel ratio sensor (or something like that). You may just want to call them to make sure that you are getting the right part. The part number for my Tacoma was 89467 34011. I don't know if it is the same for the 4 runner.
