Default VSC Trac, Trac Off and Check Engine Lights

Just wanted to say thanks for the help. My wife's 2001 4runner with 133,000 miles had all 3 lights come on. I checked this site and went to Auto Zone. They pulled the error codes for free (P1135). The code said air/fule ratio sensor. Turns out to be the heated O2 sensor in front of the catalytic converter. They wanted $250 for one. They didn't have one in stock so I went to the dealer and got it for $206. It was very easy to change with a small, flat screwdriver and a 12mm wrench. The screwdriver was needed to lift the lcoking tab on the wiring connector. The whole job took about 10 minutes. I disconnected the positive battery cable while I swapped the sensor just in case it was needed to clear the code. Everythings fine now. Hope this helps others as much as I've been helped.

great job! just one suggestion: always disconnect
the neg cable end first and reinstall it last. only
take off the pos cable end first in an emergency.
again, great job. yspert

Default Re: VSC Trac, Trac Off and Check Engine Lights

my wife's '03 sequoia limited (80K) had the same three lights show up a few weeks ago. i was about to take it to the only dealer in the area open on sunday but since it was already late in the day and assuming we'd have to leave it with them (i assumed it was a busted O2 sensor since i had the same kind of thing happen to my former '87 cressida years ago), i checked the forums while waiting for the next day to go to the dealer. once i read about the FREE autozone check, i hustled over there. i don't want to talk bad about the dealer since i never gave them an opportunity to check what the problem was, but i'm sure i saved money since i assume the dealer would have charged labor just to hook up the truck's computer to their diagnostic thing. anyway, the autozone tech provided me with the read-out of what was likely the problem (large leak in the system) and the list of recommended solutions (check gas cap was number 1 on the list). although i'd already checked the gas cap, he told me it wouldn't reset the lights and then he reset them using the plug-in diagnostic thing. i opened the cap and tightened it again until i heard the clicks and BAAAM, no more lights! i guess when i filled the tank a few days earlier i didn't twist the cap until clicks. thanks for saving me a lot of time and money!!!
