Default Re: Keyless entry factory remote programing

1. Make sure the vehicle is in the following conditions--
_ a. The key is NOT inserted in the ignition switch.
_ b. Drivers door is open (all other doors are closed)
c. The Drivers door is UNLOCKED.

2. Insert the key into the ignition switch, then pull it out.

3. Press the Door lock switch on the Drivers door from Lock to Unlock 5
times.
Like this: Lock, Unlock = 1

4. Close the Drivers door and open it.

5. Repeat step 3

6. Insert the key into ignition switch and turn 2 times to the "run"
position and then back, repeat.

7. Pull the key out of the ignition switch, the ECU should verify the above
completed steps by locking and unlocking the door locks twice. (if not
repeat the above 1-6 sequence)

8. Press the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons on the remote together for at least
1/2 second. Then press either button and hold for more than 1 second and
release.

9. If steps are done correctly the ECU will "Lock" and "Unlock" the doors
once to confirm. **NOTE**: If you want to program more than one remote you
must do it at this point by repeating step 8 with another remote. (if
nothing happens then repeat ALL 8 steps)

10. Close the Drivers door and test all remotes.

Sounds like a hoax. I not saying that you are liar, but it sounds a little funny to me. I can't see why a keyless entry would need such an extensive process, just to program the thing to lock and unlock your car. How would your key acknowledge that you have actually done all of these steps? Please explain my brother, please explain.

I have not tried reprograming a Toyota, but my previous car (mustang) was to turn the key on and off (not starting the engine) 5 times then press the remote .

I would like to change my remote from 'two clicks' to open all the doors to just a 'one click' process.

Can this be done on a 2007 Tundra DC?

Thanks to sdstud212001, my wife's 99 4Runner's two wireless remotes now are functioning again. I thought I'd have to R/R the back door ECU but his directions were the cure!!

Note: If you have two remotes you need to do step #8 for both remote transmitters.

Thanks again sdstud212001

sdstud212001 is spot on with his instructions. I did my 2000 SR5 about 4 months ago. But I bought new remotes and had to program them to my vehicle.

It's not a hoax. I used the same procedure to program my remote that I purchased off ebay just this week.

Here is the site I used. The instructions for the 4runner are about the same as posted above: <Company Name> Home Page
