I did this procedure, the normal blinking sequence code came up. However, my vsc trac/vsc off lights are still turning back on as soon as i put it in drive or reverse (I failed to mention.... the vsc lights are not on at start up, only when the vehicle moves a few feet)

You have a problem.
CHECK THE CODE and let me know what it is.
Check the DTC.
(1) Using SST, connect terminals Tc and CG of DLC3.
(2) Turn the ignition switch ON.
(3) Read the DTC from the ABS warning light or VSC
warning light on the combination meter.
Ill see if I can point you in the right direction.

ok, my vsc light is flashing 3 times, then 9 times. ABS light is a steady "normal" flash. So i guess its a "39" vsc code whatever that means. Thanks so much for your help so far mustang
Problem finally fixed! The dealer never reset the yaw sensor when i took it to them. I have the procedure on a pdf if anyone wants it. Thanks, especialy to you mustang for all your help
I had the same problem with my 04 v6 limited 4runner and I tried diagnosing the check engine light to see what code came up and got code 56. What does this code mean? Help would be greatly appreciated. I do not have a code reader and the truck seems to be running perfectly fine. Help please!

see attachment for "56"
This has to do with the AIR BAG SYSTEM.
There is a short in the passenger side air bag system. I would take to dealer to inspect. Air bags can be dangerous to mess with if your not careful.

Just got the same code in my 04 V6. I just order the bocsh universal O2, because the dealer wanted 250 bucks, this is a ripped off big time. I hope the universal one will do the trick.

You may want to rethink that choice. There are a lot of reports about problems with the universal sensors. Saving a few dollars may end up costing you a lot more. You are going to have a hard time returning electrical parts if they don't work. $250 is a lot, but you can get it for a lot less by using one of the online dealer sights or even going with the aftermarket Denso which is supposed to be the same as the OE unit.
Just put it in today. So far so good, only has been driven 15 miles though, time will tell I guess.
For those of you who want to go with Bocsh Universal post O2 then here is how I hooked up the four wires.
- The two BLACK wires from OE are for heat go to the two WHITES on the Bocsh universal.
- The BLUE OE is signal goes to BLACK Bocsh Universal.
And,
- The WHITE OE goes to the GRAY Bocsh universal.
