Angry No Visor Mirror???

Let me get this staright, I drop 33K for a sport edition 4runner, and I don't even get ONE visor mirror???

Did they just forget to put one in mine or is that how they all are?

Don't get wrong, I love my "Grey Ghost "....but no mirror??

Sonic,

I had the same thing with my Sport that I bought in October. I called Toyota's Customer Care hotline and they told me that this was a mistake - a "misbuild" as they call it.

They plan on doing a voluntary recall sometime in March to have new mirror-equipped visors installed, but I'd call just to make sure that they have you in their files.

Default Yup

Yeah, I also called and they said the voluntary recall will be later in Spring sometime. They'll contact everyone, but they also took down my name and information to add into the file I suppose.

Same thing in my sport. My wife was a bit angry when we drove out of the lot. I just bought mine a few days ago so they must still be making them that way.

sonic don't worry, everyone's vanity mirrors are missing. They had a production failure that resulted in missing mirrors.

We have been told that there will be voluntary recall notice out in feb/mar so just wait until then. You'll definitely hear from Toyota regarding this issue.

soo many sports here!!

Sonic,

Really? They've got new visors already? What dealership are you going through? I was told - as everyone else was - that Toyota won't have parts until March or so.

Ok, so I called the dealership (Northridge Toyt) and they said that the mirrors did not come stock and I'd have to pay about 250 bucks for it......NO WAY!

So I'll call Toyota tomorrow and add my name to the list.

Thanks for the replies

What about the SR5 models? Do they suppose to have the mirrors in the visors?

Thanks

Jack:

All the models are suppose to come w/ the vanity mirrors. check out the brochure, it'll state that it comes w/ vanity mirrors.

Ed:

Don't worry too much about the vanity mirros because most all dealers are aware of the missing mirrors. we'll all be getting the recall notice soon (feb/mar) so we should be okay. A few of us has already called toyota and they are aware too so they won't just blow us all off!

It will be FREE!!!! It better or we'll have to romp on em!

Ed,

Thanks for the information. I'm still waiting for the 2003 4Runner SR5 to come out with the same color through-out the body. I heard someone say that these SR5 models are in production in December and should be at the dealer on February.

May be the ones that will come out in February will have mirrors on the visors.

Jack

I just purchased a new 2003 4Runner Sport on Saturday 1/25/03 and I had vanity mirrors with lights on both the passenger and drivers side. I don't have the mfg date with me right now, but will try to get that and post. Thanks!

Duerrs,

Thanks for the info; it doesn't make sense that the 4runners don't come with at least one vanity mirror, I'm glad yours does.

I contacted Toyota and they said that in the spring they'll replace the VISORS for FREE, and they'll be a sending me a gift certificate for $10.

Enjoy

Hey Eric (e-man):

Have you heard from toyota on when we'll get this pieces in? Just wondering since the new production 4runners come w/ them now.

Figure we should be hearing from them soon regarding the replacement recall.

Hey Ed:

They said you'd get a $10 certificate? wow I didn't get one of those DANG! I guess I'm gonna have to call em back and chew em out again! hehe

Duerrs:

The mfg date should be found on the drivers door section. It'll have the month/yr and also a # which tells you what number it was on the production line for that month/yr

I guess the rest of us will be getting something in the mail soon

I just checked the mfg date on my 4Runner. It was manufactured on 12/02 and it was #932. Hope this helps. Thanks!
